We want therapy to be financially accessible for everyone. Reduced rates are available case-by-case based on need and availability.
We submit directly to most major insurers, so you don't pay out of pocket upfront.
Our office is in Ottawa. All client records are stored in Canada and handled under PIPEDA and PHIPA.
Therapy is a space to slow down and look at what's underneath. These are some of the patterns people bring into the room.
FOR WHEN SOMETHING FEELS OFF
You ask if things are okay. You get reassurance. You feel better, for a while. Then the doubt comes back, and you need reassurance again. It's exhausting for you and for your partner, and the relief never lasts as long as you need it to.
A slow text response. A slightly different tone. An offhand comment that you can't stop thinking about. Relationship anxiety turns ordinary moments into evidence that something is wrong, and the mind fills in the blanks in the most frightening directions.
The relationship might be going well, but underneath there's a persistent dread, that it will end, that you'll be left, that you don't deserve what you have. This fear can drive pushing away the very person you want to keep close.
Relationship anxiety is often rooted in early attachment experiences, the messages you absorbed about whether relationships are safe, whether you are loveable, and what it means when someone pulls away. These patterns aren't character flaws. They're adaptations. And they can change.
We work with relationship anxiety in both individual and couples therapy, depending on what fits your situation. In individual therapy, the focus is on understanding where your anxiety patterns come from, building a more secure sense of self, and developing tools to respond to anxiety without letting it drive your behaviour in the relationship. In couples therapy, both partners work together to understand the dynamic and build more security, trust, and communication.
We will assess your unique situation and use the approach that fits. This may be attachment theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), or Emotionally Focused approaches, all of which have strong evidence for relationship-related concerns.
Relationship anxiety often connects with social anxiety, particularly the fear of judgment or rejection from people who matter most. If that overlap resonates, it may be worth exploring both.

Sessions are 50 minutes in length. Rates vary by therapist and are confirmed during your free consultation. We accept e-transfer and credit cards, and direct-bill most insurers.
Sliding-scale spots are available based on need. Ask during your free consultation.
Same 50-minute format, structured for two participants and shared concerns.
Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Social Worker services are covered by most extended health plans in Canada. We recommend confirming your specific coverage before your first paid session. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, and most major insurers include coverage.
We direct-bill where your insurer allows it. Otherwise, you pay at the time of session and submit the receipt for reimbursement.
Every session generates a receipt listing the provider's license number, suitable for insurance reimbursement.
In-person sessions are held at our Ottawa office. Virtual sessions use a secure, PIPEDA-compliant video platform. You can switch between the two.
We ask for 24 hours notice on cancellations. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee.
After the free 15-minute consultation, your first paid session is intake-focused. Bring questions, anything you have already tried, and any goals you have in mind.
QUESTIONS
Relationship anxiety therapy helps you address persistent doubts, fears, and worry about your relationship, whether about your partner, your feelings, or the future. In Ottawa, our Registered Psychotherapists and Social Workers help you understand where the anxiety comes from and respond to intrusive doubts without spiralling into reassurance-seeking or constant comparison. The goal is to help you feel more grounded and present in your connections.
Fees for relationship anxiety therapy in Ottawa depend on the clinician and session length. At Auren Wellness, sessions are with Registered Psychotherapists or Social Workers, and we offer sliding-scale options when cost is a barrier. We also begin with a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions first. Book that free consult through our contact page to learn what works for you.
Individual therapy for relationship anxiety in Ontario is generally not covered by OHIP but is often covered by extended health benefits when provided by a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker. Because relationship anxiety therapy is usually individual work, it tends to fit standard mental health coverage. Auren Wellness offers direct billing to many insurers and can help you confirm your benefits.
The length of relationship anxiety therapy varies with how long the patterns have been present and what is driving them. Many people find a noticeable shift over several weeks of regular sessions, while deeper or longstanding patterns may take longer. Your Ottawa therapist will set goals with you and review progress along the way, rather than working to a fixed number of sessions.
Some doubt and worry is a normal part of any relationship and usually settles with time, conversation, or reflection. Relationship anxiety becomes worth addressing when the doubts feel constant, intrusive, and resistant to reassurance, or when they take over your daily thinking. Relationship anxiety therapy in Ottawa can help you tell the difference and respond to the worry in a healthier way.
Relationship anxiety involves worry and doubt about a relationship, while relationship OCD (ROCD) is a more intense pattern where intrusive doubts feel uncontrollable, resist reassurance, and often lead to compulsive checking or comparing. ROCD doubts can spike most when things are going well. An Ottawa therapist can help you understand which pattern fits and tailor the approach, such as CBT or exposure-based work, accordingly.
Many people find therapy genuinely helpful for relationship anxiety. Approaches like CBT, and exposure and response prevention for ROCD-type patterns, are designed to help you tolerate uncertainty and stop feeding doubt with reassurance and comparison. While no therapy can promise a specific outcome, these methods aim to give you practical tools. A free 15-minute consult with an Auren therapist in Ottawa is a low-pressure way to begin.
Yes. Auren Wellness offers relationship anxiety therapy both in person at our Ottawa office and virtually to clients across Ontario. Many people find online sessions just as effective and easier to fit into a busy schedule. The same evidence-based approaches are used whether you meet in person or from the comfort of home.
Relationship anxiety often responds well to individual therapy, since much of the work involves how you relate to your own doubts and uncertainty. Some people also benefit from couples work, depending on the situation. At Auren Wellness in Ottawa, we focus on individual sessions and can help you decide whether that fits your needs during a free 15-minute consultation.
Reassurance can ease anxiety for a moment but often makes the doubt return stronger, keeping the cycle going. Relationship anxiety therapy helps you gradually reduce reassurance-seeking and comparison while building tolerance for the natural uncertainty in any relationship. Your Ottawa therapist will work with you on small, manageable steps rather than expecting change all at once.
