Registered therapists

Every clinician is registered with a regulatory college — the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), or the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

Sliding scale options

We want therapy to be financially accessible for everyone. Reduced rates are available case-by-case based on need and availability.

Direct billing

We submit directly to most major insurers, so you don't pay out of pocket upfront.

Ottawa-based and Canadian-owned

Our office is in Ottawa. All client records are stored in Canada and handled under PIPEDA and PHIPA.

What ADHD looks like inside a relationship

Therapy is a space to slow down and look at what's underneath. These are some of the patterns couples bring into the room.

FOR WHEN SOMETHING FEELS OFF

One of you became the calendar

The reminders, the bookings, the birthday cards: they migrated to one person, and the resentment migrated with them. It's a role, not a personality, and roles can be renegotiated.

Keeping score of the forgetting

Every forgotten errand gets remembered by both of you. The ADHD partner hears the running total in each sigh, and starts hiding slips instead of flagging them, which makes everything worse.

Conversations that derail

Interruptions, topic jumps, a glazed look mid-sentence. It can read as disrespect when it's attention doing what attention does, but it still stings, and both things need addressing.

How we approach ADHD and relationships

OUR APPROACH

This work starts by getting the ADHD out from between you and onto the table where you can both look at it. Understanding what's genuinely ADHD, what's habit, and what's ordinary relationship friction changes the fight from "you don't care" versus "you're controlling" into a shared problem you can actually work on.

Practically, that means redistributing the invisible load in ways that don't rely on memory alone, building repair for the moments that go badly, and letting the managing partner put the clipboard down without the household seizing up, which is often the hardest part. Depending on what fits, this can be individual therapy or couples work; several of our therapists see couples.

If the pattern you're recognizing is more about criticism hitting much harder than it should, our rejection sensitivity page may be the better starting point. Broader couples support lives under couples therapy.

Same 50-minute format, structured for two participants and shared concerns.

Insurance, Billing, and What to Expect

Insurance coverage

Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Social Worker services are covered by most extended health plans in Canada. We recommend confirming your specific coverage before your first paid session. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, and most major insurers include coverage.

Direct billing

We direct-bill where your insurer allows it. Otherwise, you pay at the time of session and submit the receipt for reimbursement.

Receipts

Every session generates a receipt listing the provider's license number, suitable for insurance reimbursement.

In-person or virtual

In-person sessions are held at our Ottawa office. Virtual sessions use a secure, PIPEDA-compliant video platform. You can switch between the two.

Cancellation

We ask for 24 hours notice on cancellations. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee.

Your first session

After the free 15-minute consultation, your first paid session is intake-focused. Bring questions, anything you have already tried, and any goals you have in mind.

QUESTIONS

Common Questions About ADHD and Relationships

1

Do we come in together or separately?

+

Either, depending on what fits. Some of this work happens as couples sessions, some as individual therapy for one partner, and some as a mix. The free consult is a good place to figure out which shape suits your situation.

2

My partner won't come. Is there any point starting alone?

+

Yes. One person changing their side of a pattern reliably shifts the pattern, whether that's the ADHD partner building systems and repair, or the managing partner working on putting the clipboard down. Individual work is a real starting point, not a consolation prize.

3

Isn't blaming ADHD just an excuse?

+

An explanation isn't an excuse, and the work needs both halves: understanding what's driven by ADHD rather than indifference, and taking real responsibility for impact and repair. Naming the mechanism is what makes accountability workable instead of just another fight.

4

Do I need a referral to see a therapist in Ontario?

+

No. You can book directly with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker without a doctor's referral. Some insurance plans ask for one before reimbursing, so it is worth checking your policy.

5

Is therapy covered by OHIP in Ontario?

+

Psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker is not covered by OHIP. Many extended health and workplace benefit plans cover it, though plans differ on which credentials they reimburse. Check whether yours covers RP, RSW, or both.

6

Can we do sessions online?

+

Yes. Our therapists offer secure video sessions to clients anywhere in Ontario, including couples sessions. Everything discussed stays confidential either way.
