School stress therapy at Auren Wellness works with the young person's relationship to performance, expectation, and self-worth, because that's usually where the real problem lives. We use CBT-based approaches to help young people identify the thoughts that are fuelling the stress (“If I don't get an A I'm failing,” “Everyone else is handling this better than me”) and build more accurate and workable alternatives. We also work on practical skills, pacing, prioritizing, taking breaks without guilt, while addressing the deeper pattern underneath. For many young people, school stress is intertwined with perfectionism, anxiety, or a sense that their worth depends on their achievement. We work at that level as well, not just the surface-level symptoms. Parents are part of this work too. The expectations at home, spoken and unspoken, are often part of the context, and we'll work with you on what's helpful and what inadvertently adds fuel.
