Community & Identity

Immuno-disorders, Non-Binary Allied, Single Parent

My clients are often people from ages 20-70 with interpersonal difficulties, work stress, relationship struggles or mental health concerns. Many feel burnt out from work/life balance and unhappy or unhealthy relationships with family, friends and colleagues.

I have over 30 years of social work and counselling/therapy experience, mainly in mental health, child welfare, substance use and medical social work. I work from a strengths-based perspective, providing a safe space for clients, helping them understand their past experiences and how these have shaped their present circumstances and difficulties. The specific modalities I have been trained in are CBT, DBT, EFT, CPT and ACT. I tend to use MI and a Harm Reduction Model for substance use along with a Relapse Prevention Plan. Mindfulness strategies help reduce anxiety and focus on living in the present. I work with the individual, couple and/or family members to determine a course of action, based on the client's expectations and wishes, using a collaborative approach.
